Rachna's ode reads...
"I moved to Singapore on 28 Sep 1988 , eleven days after my marriage. I did not know anyone here but totally loved the place and people. My first Karva Chauth was celebrated at ECP with my dear Chinese friends holding the thali & lota Smile. First Diwali we made diyas out of atta as we did not know where to buy them from! I learnt to live like a local and not like an expat and learnt to love the local cuisine...cheechon fun, char siew wanton mee, claypot rice etc. Knew which hawker centres specialised in what, became adept with chop sticks! After nearly twenty seven year, Singapore still fascinates me, I am still fascinate by Chinatown, love to explore little titbits in Little India, know the best Satay places, and still have a group of Chinese friends who lead me to the intricacies of the Singapore cuisine and culture. I am truly blessed to call this place my Home!"
